Owen Tulip Owner/Operator Originally from North Conway, NH, I became involved with mountain biking at a young age with an awesome group of friends. In order to have places to ride, we had to spend time creating trails. This initially got me involved in trail building. I spent my teenage summers maintaining and building trails at Attitash bike park in Bartlett, NH which allowed me to further my skills as a trail builder. My passions for mountain biking and skiing led me to attend Western State College in Gunnison, CO. I decided pretty quickly that I wanted to make Gunnison my home after college. I was hired as a bike mechanic at Crested Butte Mountain Resort in 2012 and worked my way onto the bike trail crew the following year. Building trails at Crested Butte offered different challenges and opportunities than in New Hampshire and allowed me to begin developing my skills in a mini excavator. Eventually, I became the bike trail manager and head trail builder at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort for several years. Living in Colorado, I found my interests broadening beyond mountain biking to include hunting, backcountry skiing/snowmobiling, and single track dirt biking. The summation of my interests led me to want to apply my skill set as a trail builder beyond the Crested Butte Bike Park. In the spring of 2021, I started Tulip Trails West LLC offering trail building, light dirt work, and snow removal services in the Gunnison Valley and surrounding areas in Colorado.
